You roll into a small town early in the evening, go to the local diner and order a steak off the menu. You’re brought soup. You are confused. You look around you and you notice everyone else is being given soup, yet are still ordering a variety of things from the menu. You think it’s a joke but upon a second look of the menu it is merely all soup. The chefs special is Soup soup with soup. You bring it up to a waitress. She seems startled by your accusation. She asks another person at another table what they ordered. They say soup and then have a startled look on their face. Everyone within earshot begins to panic and ask eachother what is going on. The room descends into chaos. You try to leave through the front door. But there is only soup.

Survivors of the Aurora theater shooting must pay Cinemark $700,000 in legal fees

Survivors of the 2012 Aurora, Colorado, movie theater shooting, who sued Cinemark for liability, must now pay the theater chain at least $700,000 in legal fees. Just four of the survivors are responsible for the bill. The ruling was made in June after a judge reportedly urged the survivors a to take a small cash settlement payment from Cinemark.

At an October hearing, the theater’s representation argued, “"It would be patently unfair, and legally unsound, to impose on Cinemark, a private business in the entertainment industry, the duty and burden to have foreseen and prevented the criminal equivalent of a meteor falling from the sky,” according to Deadline.

When the outlook for their case looked increasingly bleak, Weaver said the plaintiffs had hoped to at least focus on asking Cinemark to take steps to make theaters safer to prevent future tragedies. But after the final verdict, Weaver said the case hadn’t even been able to make theaters safer.

“it is fucking insane for anyone to think putting guns in the hands of businesses and schools to stop mass shooters”

*sues the business, that was a gun free zone with signage saying PWEASE NO GUNNIES, where a mass shooting occurred for lack of proper security to prevent a mass shooting*

lmfao whAT

like TSA xray screening security? armed security forces standing in the back of every theatre?

this was doomed to fail from the start. i hope they can at least crowdfund the bill, because jesus

Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

This is like when people tried to hold gun manufacturers responsible for shootings and got their shit kicked in.

The Strange Link Between Blood Type and Cognitive Health

In recent years studies have uncovered a curious link between people’s blood type and their brain health: people with O blood type seem to have lower risks of developing cognitive difficulties as they age compared with people with non-O blood types, that is A, B, or AB. People with the latter type seem to fare worst in these studies.

But how exactly does this happen?

The link between blood type and brain health is not yet fully understood but scientists have some ideas to explain the surprising findings. People with A, B and AB blood types are more likely than people with O blood types to have cardiovascular problems, which can in turn have a negative impact on brain health, says Kristine Alexander of the University of Vermont who has investigated the link in a 2014 study published in Neurology.

The new information about blood type adds to the growing body of knowledge about the way the circulatory system influences the processes of the brain.

“The things that influence your cardiovascular systems often have impacts all over your body because it’s the plumbing system,” Alexander says. “Your blood system is what feeds your brain and cleans out waste materials. If that’s not functioning well, you’re brain’s going to eventually show signs of deterioration.”
